Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM)
VLM is a digital platform dedicated to the memory of more than 10 million Veterans and servicemembers. VLM interactive features allow you to post tributes, upload images, share your Veteran's military service timeline and achievements, biographical information, historical documents and more.

Available at this cemetery:
- New burial of caskets in a gravesite.
- New burial of cremated remains in an in-ground gravesite or placement in an above-ground columbarium niche.
This cemetery may also have a memorial section or a memorial wall. Memorial areas honor decedents whose remains are not recoverable and are not available for burial. (Examples include remains that are donated to science or cremated remains scattered at sea). Please contact the cemetery for more information.

Burial in a VA national cemetery is open to all members of the armed forces who have met a minimum active duty service requirement and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable.
A Veteran's spouse, widow or widower, minor dependent children, and under certain conditions, unmarried adult children with disabilities may also be eligible for burial. Eligible spouses and children may be buried even if they predecease the Veteran.
Members of the reserve components of the armed forces who die while on active duty or who die while on training duty, or were eligible for retired pay, may also be eligible for burial.
Cemetery is located in the southwest section of Cedar City, Utah. From Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas NV, follow signs to get onto Interstate 15 North (about 0.3 miles). Drive approximately 173 miles north on I-15N to Exit 57 for UT-130/South Main. Keep left at the fork, heading west on Cross Hollow Road. Take a left (south) after the highway exit and onto Providence Center Drive. Pass the Home Depot and take a right (west) onto 1600 South. Cemetery is located approximately 0.3 miles from the turn on the left.
From Salt Lake City International Airport, follow signs to get onto Interstate 80 East (about 2.4 miles). Drive approximately 2.6 miles east on I-80E, take the exit for Interstate 15 South Las Vegas and keep left at the fork. Drive approximately 254 miles south on I-15S to Exit 57. Keep right at the fork onto Cross Hollow Road and take an immediate left onto Providence Center Drive.)

The Southern Utah National Cemetery is recognized as the first VA national cemetery located in Cedar City, within Iron County, Utah. It is positioned in the southwestern region of the state, approximately 170 miles northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, and 252 miles south of Salt Lake City.
As one of eight cemeteries designated under the "Rural Initiative," the Southern Utah National Cemetery encompasses eight acres, two of which have been developed for use. This facility is designed to meet the burial needs of nearly 15,000 veterans residing within a 75-mile radius of Cedar City and St. George, Utah.

Natural, fresh-cut flowers are welcomed on graves any time. We remove flowers when they become unsightly or to facilitate mowing.
One small American flag may be placed on the grave. We remove it when it becomes damaged, faded, or tattered, and dispose of it properly. No object shall be attached to a marker or niche cover, protrude above the top of an upright headstone or encroach on an adjacent grave.
Artificial flowers may only be placed on graves from 5 days before through 5 days after, Easter Sunday and Memorial Day. Potted plants may only be placed on graves 5 days before through 5 days after, Easter Sunday and Memorial Day. Christmas wreaths and grave blankets only may be placed on graves from December 1 through January 5.
The Department of Veterans Affairs does not permit adornments that are offensive, inconsistent with the dignity of the cemetery, or may pose a safety hazard. Permanent plantings, statues, battery or solar-powered items, balloons, breakable items, and commemorative items are not allowed at any time.
Cemetery personnel will routinely inspect for unsightly, unsafe, or unauthorized items. Durable items removed from graves will be held for one month. These items remain property of the donor but are under custodianship of the cemetery. If not claimed within 30 days, they are then governed by the rules for disposal of federal property.
VA regulations 38 CFR 1.218 prohibit the carrying of firearms (either openly or concealed), explosives or other dangerous or deadly weapons while on VA property, except for official purposes, such as military funeral honors.
Possession of firearms on any property under the charge and control of VA is prohibited. Offenders may be subject to a fine, removal from the premises, or arrest.
The official dedication of the cemetery took place on September 10, 2025, with the inaugural burials occurring later that same month.
Medal of Honor
The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force that can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Recipients receive the Medal of Honor from the President on behalf of Congress. It was first awarded during the Civil War and the eligibility criteria, medal design, and recognition on a recipients' grave marker have all evolved over time. There are 434 Medal of Honor recipients interred at VA national cemeteries including 6 double recipients.
